- Lim Young Kyun formed a relationship with Nam June Paik while studying at New York University and the International Center of Photography, and took several pictures of Paik’s artistic career since the 1980s. The current work displays the performance of Bye Bye Kipling (1986) held at La MaMa Theater in New York on October 14th, 1986. The presentation was an internationally transmitted satellite performance held in anticipation of a successful hosting of the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul. As seen in the picture, the famous shaman Kim Keum-Hwa is performing the Salpuri Gut (traditional rites performed by Korean shamans) against the Sansindo installed in the background. A TV Robot by Paik is displayed on the left side of the stage. The performance was broadcast live on Channel 13 in the US and several countries in Europe and Asia.
