- Description
- This work is a poster of the 1948 romantic comedy musical film Top o' the Morning featuring the faces of the leading characters Bing Crosby, Ann Blyth, and Barry Fitzgerald. Nam June Paik drew undulating lines across the poster, upon which he wrote two Chinese characters, meaning “morning” and “top” respectively in a combination of four colors, alluding to the film’s title. At the bottom, Paik wrote part of the lyrics of the traditional song, “Oh Moon the Bright, Oh Moon that Amused Li Taipo.” This lyrical phrase was also written in one of Paik’s prints, next to the sentence “Moon is the Oldest TV set for Mankind.”
