- Description
- Nam June Paik wrote the Chinese phrase, “一色一筆,” which refers to ‘writing in one stroke of a brush in one color.’ A single red line runs above the phrase. This drawing recalls Paik’s action of drawing a line with his body, in such performances as Zen for Head (1961) and Zen for Walking (1961). The tip of the red line is slightly rolled up in a spiral form, which is typical of Paik’s representation of a wound-up videotape or a watch. Paik often made a comparison between a videotape that could be rewound and time in our life that is irreversible.
