- Description
- A floral form that looks like the blazing sun is drawn with layered lines of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. Chinese characters that represent spring and summer are also written in the drawing, which recalls Paik’s idea of how the video can show the relationship between color and time. “Before working with video, I had never thought that color varied with time. People believed that in painting we chose colors by direct access (random access). You put a red here or a yellow, or a blue, you chose this or that. But let us observe the nature: each season has its own colors. The spring certainly has colors like light green. It begins with light green then April and May are rich with all colors of flowers and the summer is very blue. The autumn goes from yellow to red. Then comes the grey winter. Colors of video follow the exact same principle.”
