Description
This work features various animals: a giraffe, a dog, a turtle, a monkey, a crab, fish, a duck, and an octopus. “NJP” is written under the tiger-like animal, implying that the animal is Nam June Paik himself. The elongated tiger’s tail is rolled up in spirals here and there, which recalls Paik’s mentioning a Korean proverb that says, “Seeing a tiger’s tail is more frightening than seeing the tiger itself.” Animals such as fish, tigers, and turtles are motifs often used in Paik’s video installations.
