- Description
- Susan Philipsz personally edits songs with complex and rich historical implications, singing them herself and presenting them in a way that they meet the visitors in unexpected spots. Hearing those songs, the visitors become overcome by an indescribable feeling, which leads them to rediscover anew where they are now. For this exhibition she is going to sing two songs, one composed by John Cage and the other favored by Irish novelist James Joyce. Philipsz’s From the Beginning will be presented along with a film by Takahiko Iimura, a pioneer artist of Japanese experimental film and video, in which Cage performed Joyce, reading lines from the texts of Joyce.
