- Title
- Prepared piano
- Year
- 1946
- Description
- Cage intended this piece to be performed with objects such as screws, nails, or bamboo and plastic items placed on and between the piano strings, for the purpose of incorporating chance, noise, and percussional elements in his music. Along with this piece by Cage, a film is screened during the exhibition period, in which pianist Sun-in Chung produces a prepared piano herself and plays it for this exhibition. Visitors are also given an opportunity to play the piano, looking inside of the piano with the non-musical objects inserted in it, through the monitor on the piano.
